MomMom’s Old Fashioned Pumpkin Pie

Real Pumpkin makes the difference!!

Cut your pumpkin in half across the middle (so that the stem is on one half and the bottom is on the other half)

Scoop out the seeds and stringy stuff

Place pumpkin on a shallow backing dish cut sides down

Pour a small amount of water on the baking sheet around the pumpkins

Cook at 350 degrees for about an hour or until the tops feel soft and start to fall in

Scoop out the pumpkin meat leaving the shell

We usually bake several pumpkins in the fall and freeze it in bags with 1 ¾ cup of pumpkin each so it is ready to thaw and make pies all winter long!

Pie:

1 ¾ cup Pumpkin

1 cup sugar

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

½ tsp ginger

¼ tsp nutmeg

2 eggs beaten

1 can evaporated milk

Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth

Pour into an uncooked pie shell

Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes

Reduce oven to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 35 minutes or until set.

Do not cook your crust beforehand or put holes in your crust

ENJOY!!!!!
